The primary objectives of the Association are:
- Help Karen refugee families integrate into the local community, access community services, organizations, and to connect with the broader community in order to ensure their wellbeing in Australia.
- Provide support on education, career and life skills coaching for young Karen people with a refugee background.
- Support and assist various Karen cultural and community projects including:
- By year 2027, provide a Health Clinic with specialists in both western and oriental medicine, for healing of post traumatic stress for refugees, as well as general health issues.
- By 2035, provide an Aged Care facility for Karen, Burmese and other community members.
The ancillary objectives of the association are:
- Celebrate traditional Karen festivals and ceremonies, e.g. the Water Festival, the Yahgu Festival, and the annual Wrist Tying Ceremony.
- Ongoing support for Karen and Burmese people to retain and celebrate their traditions, culture and spiritual beliefs.
- Help building genuine respect, relationship, understanding and trust between people of all cultures, traditions, ethnicity and religions.
